The purpose of picking the tunes for this album was wanting to play in the style of the different Jazz flutists that have influenced Mr. Perales while adding his
own style. That’s why he shifts from Bep-bop to Funk to Latin to Samba. Having studied the classical repertoire gives his solo virtuosity and total domain of the flute applying
this technique without affecting a pure jazz language. His Latin Solos are in great contrast from his Bep-bop approach and in pure style with the school of Cuban flute style known
as Charanga. Compostions from some of his favorites Jazz artists could not have been excluded from this album. These are "Confirmation" by Charlie Parker, "Tune
Up" by Miles Davis, "Waltz for Deeby" by Bill Evans and "Friends" by Chick Correa. Also included are great Latin standards such as "Sombras Nada
Más" by Fancisco J. Lomuto and "Cómo fue" by Ernesto Duarte Brito. An early 1950 Tito Puente recording of "Los Cazadores" by Lou Pérez gives the flute the
chance of a pure Charanga flute solo. To this, three compositions by Mr. Perales are added: "Molto Cha", "262 West 26 Street" and "Eddie’s Samba".
